Training Time: 08:30 – 16:30
Class Size: Minimum 6 Persons / Maximum 10 Persons.
Certification: License Card to be issued by 3M-Training Center Thailand.
Certification Validity Period: Statement of Attainment valid for 2 years from date of issue.
Training Location: Onsite Training.
Overview:
This course has been designed to meet or exceed the minimum requirement for Qualified Crane Operator to be requested attending the classification assessment as stipulated in this document or company/customer standard (If any).
To provides theoretical and practical assessment for anyone who operate offshore crane which require A, B/+, C qualification criteria as covered by this document or company/customer standard (If any).
To provide the practical skills and knowledge test to ensure the students to understand, use proper crane operating techniques and safe in crane operation.
Target Audience:
Any and all personnel, who are operated company cranes and required classification assessment.
Student Prerequisites:
Students should be physically fit and able to participate in moderately strenuous practical activities.
Students shall be following Drug / Alcohol Policy.
Students don’t were any short trouser and sandal to Training Center.
Document Prerequisite for Training:
- Copy of ID-Card /or Passport.
- Medical Certificate must have detail of Eye Vision & Color Blindness Test.
- Crane Operator Training Certificate.
- Document Record or Document Confirm for Crane Operating Experienced.
Assessment Objectives:
To evaluate and determine the current skill, knowledge and overall confidence level of each crane operator on the crane type, he is to operate in the field. As there are many factors that can affect a crane operator’s decisions and reaction time in the field, we highly recommend that assessments be conducted on the actual crane the operator is intended to operate.
Content Covered:
1. Standard Reference:
- Information stipulated in this document.
- Company/customer standard (If any).
- Thai Law-Ministerial of Labor Regulation on the Prescribing of Standard for Administration and Management of Occupational Safety, Health and Environment in Relation to Mechanism, Crane and Boiler Work B.E. 2552.
- Thai Law-Department of Labour Protection and Welfare for Guideline & Training Method of Crane Operator, Signal Person (Banksman), Riggers /or Crane Operation Supervisor Training Course and Training Refresher Course B.E. 2554.
- API RP 2D.
2. Offshore Crane Operator Classification Upgrade:
The Offshore Crane Operator Classification Upgrade is specified in the detail below and classification upgrade will be conducted assessment by the accepted or designated a responsible Instructor/Assessor.
Any crane operator is required to maintain a detailed lift log. This log is to record his actual operation time in the crane and details of the types of lifts made. All logs will require authorized person’s signature or supervisor’s signature.
Upgrades will require the designated crane operator to have a minimum number of documented lifts:
- Class "C" to "B" = 100 lifts within a 90 days period.
- Class "B" to "B+" = 100 lifts within a 90 days period.
- Class "B+" to "A" = 100 lifts within a 90 days period.
The requirements to upgrade from “C” to “B” or "B" to "B+" or "B+" to "A" will include passing a written test:
- With a minimum grade of 75%.
- With no mistakes on reading the load chart portion of the test.
The practical test for all classifications will include:
- Passing a practical test with a minimum grade of 75%.
- Rigging equipment inspection.
- Rigging techniques.
- Crane operating test (will vary with the class of license being tested for).
3. Crane Operating Test:
Class “A” (Individual with 1 year or more crane operating experience)
- Onboard and Offboard Lifts with auxiliary line up to maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Onboard and Offshore Lifts with main line up to maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Personnel basket lifts.
Class "B+" (Individual with minimum of 1 year crane operating experience)
- Onboard and Offboard Lifts with auxiliary line up to maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Onboard Lifts with main line up to maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Offboard Lifts with main line up to 50% maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Personnel basket lifts.
Class “B” (Individual with less than 1 year crane operating experience)
- Onboard and Offboard Lifts with auxiliary line up to maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Onboard and Offboard Lifts with main line up to 50% maximum capacity as per load chart.
Class “C” (Individual with less than 6 months crane related experience)
- Onboard and Offboard Lifts with auxiliary line up to maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Onboard Lifts with main line up to 50% maximum capacity as per load chart.
The results of the ‘Written Test’ and the ‘Practical Test’ will be forwarded to Client Representative or/ Client Authorized Person for final verification and approval. The approved results will be communicated back to 3M Training Center to issue the renewal classification license.
If a Crane Operator fails to obtain a passing grade (75% minimum) in one or more of the tests, the Responsible Instructor/Assessor will recommend one of the following courses of action:
- Re-take the test he failed in order to obtain a passing grade before classification license are renewed.
- Take further training under supervision of a Class "A” Crane Operator or approved Trainer/Mentor before retaking the test.
- Cancelation of the classification license.
The Responsible Instructor/Assessor will inform 3M Training Center when or if he cancels a Crane Operator Classification License so the database can be updated and notify Client Representative or/ Client Authorized Person.
4. Offshore Crane Operator License Authorized:
The Crane License Classifications are specified in the details below, the number and classes of licensed crane operators will be decided by the Responsible Authorized Person, based on the operational requirements and the optimum use of manpower and resources at his disposal.
The Offshore Crane Operator License Classification Card is approved and signed on the card by Client Representative or/ Client Authorized Person and Responsible Instructor/Assessor.
Class "C": "Trainee" All lifts below must be made with direct supervision of a Class “A” Crane Operator or Designated Mentor.
- Make Onboard Lifts with auxiliary line up to maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Make Onboard Lifts with main line up to 50% of the maximum capacity as per load chart.
“Not authorized to make Non-Routine Lifts and Personnel Basket Lifts”
Note: Class "C" crane operator must have successfully completed the “The Qualified Crane Operator" and "Qualified Rigger" courses in accordance with Thai Law & API RP 2D.
Class "B":
- Make Onboard and Offboard Lifts with auxiliary line up to maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Make Onboard and Offboard Lifts with main line up to 50% of the maximum capacity as per load chart.
“Not authorized to make Non-Routine Lifts and Personnel Basket Lifts without direct supervision of Class “A” Crane Operator”
Class "B+":
- Make Onboard and Offboard Lifts with auxiliary line up to maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Make Onboard Lifts with main line up to the maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Make Offboard Lifts with main line up to 50% of the maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Make Personnel Basket Lifts.
Note: Class "B/+" crane operator must have successfully completed the Class "C" requirements as well as a hands-on performance assessment required on the type of crane that employee will use in the field.
Class "A":
- Make All Lifts with auxiliary line & main line up to maximum capacity as per load chart.
- Make Personnel Basket Lifts.
Note: Class "A" crane operator’s responsibilities may include supervising all lift activities and personnel transfers conducted by Class "B/+" or "C" crane operators. Class "A" crane operator must have successfully completed the Class "B/+" requirements and be recommended by his supervisor to have unrestricted use of the crane.
5. Assessment Skill Evaluations Criteria:
- Inspection criteria.
- Check information of cargo and lifting equipment.
- Planning in lifting activities.
- Communication with Rigging Team.
- Perform Crane Operation with Aux. & Main Hoist in Static & Dynamic Lifts.
Completion Requirements:
- Minimum grate of 75% score on written exam with no mistakes on reading the load chart portion of the test.
- Passing a practical test with a minimum grade of 75%.
